Subtronics at Pechanga: 1/14/23 : Review

This was of those great San Diego nights where you can just feel it in your blood that everyone that is anyone in San Diego is at the spot to be. Tonight it was Pechanga Arena for Subtronics "Antifractals" Album tour. Everyone dressed up in full rave attire ready to go ham.

We arrived around 10 for Getter who slayed it as always.

But then Subtronics just completely blew the roof off the place. The production level was ridiculously high. The best production I have ever seen in San Diego, setting a new precedent for Pechanga Arena events. The most lazers we have ever seen (and we've been to EDC multiple times among other endless festivals) and the best cleanest dubstep bass we have ever felt. Not to mention this bass was pounding through our soles while we watched all the way in the back upper bowl of the arena. We didn't know bass could be felt from so far away. It felt like we were on the rail, felt like we were standing infront of the subs. We've been on endless rails at EDC and all over Socal, but this was way different and we were as far away as you could be! It was ridiculous. Sound so crisp, so clean, vibrating through every vertebrae and bone in our body. The show even had pyrotechnics, something we've never seen at the Sports Arena before. We vowed we will never ever miss another Subtronics show, having missed his last San Diego appearance when he sold out out next door SOMA on his "Fractals" Album tour almost exactly a year ago. (Hey we did catch him at Circuit Grounds EDC 2022).

We've talked to many people who had the same strange phenomenon of not liking the "Antifractals" album very much or not at all originally, but then after seeing it live now believe it to be one of the best albums they've ever heard. It can't be heard the same after, listening to it again even in air pods it now sounds like a truly amazing work of bass art.

The crowds were of course absolute rocked from the heavy hitting bass and new gold standard of production, going absolutely pscyho to the music. The mosh-pits were heavy, and the stands were stomping and headbanging, straight breaking necks to the bass. It was bass heaven.

Rating: 12/10 (Don't ever miss a Subtronics show again!)

Production: 15/10 (As production professionals and endless festival-goers, we truly attest this was on of the best productions on earth, very likely the best ever to be seen in San Diego. The bar for EDM events at Pechanga is so high now, its ridiculous. )
